Chapter Requalification

The topic of re-qualification of existing members has been creating a lot of discussion and research at the EO Global and chapter level for the last several years.  The 2008-2009 EO Nebraska board is serous about implementing any improvements to enhance the overall health of our chapter which ultimately drives the value that each of us receives as members of EO.

Our 08/09 board engaged EO leaders (EO Global and chapter leaders nation wide) during our recent Global Leadership Conference (GLC) in San Francisco who have first hand experience and fully understand with the pro’s and con’s of a re-occurring re-qualification process. Our findings are overwhelmingly in favor of having a re-occurring re-qualification process in place along with a systematic process which allows members who sell their business or who are managing through a difficult time to remain active in EO for a period until their business grows to exceed the minimum revenue levels required to be an EO Member.  The board is passionate about the process for those who are going through a challenging time because we know that its times like this when members can leverage the value from EO the most.

The board of EO Nebraska has implemented the “best practices” recommended by EO Global and the by-laws of our chapter will be updated to include this new policy.

A brief description follows the link to the full list of qualifications:

Qualifications:

Founder, Co-Founder or Majority Shareholder.

Over 1 million in revenue

At least 3 employees

Re-qualification Guidelines:

Each year members are asked to re-qualify directly with EO Global.  During that process, EO Global determines whether the member meets the general membership qualification based on the member's re-qualification application.  If a member does not meet these guidelines, the member gets a 1 year grace period to re-qualify.  After that year is up, the member can make a request to the local chapter for a grace period extension not to exceed 2 more years in order to re-qualify.  It is up to the local board to grant the additional grace period based on the circumstances of the member.

In addition, EO Global has created a challenge / reward for all chapters who are serious about building the strongest chapter possible by implementing ALL of the “best practices” identified by the EO Global research.  When a chapter achieves this goal, they are recognized as a “Rock Star Chapter”; so we have decided to step up to the challenge. Beginning next year (June 2009), EO Nebraska Members will be asked to participate in a "hard" re-qualification process that requires an accountant letter certifying the member's re-qualification information. The intent of this process it to maintain the integrity of the peer to peer learning found in EO.
